"Learning to ride a sidecar is not
difficult - the hardest thing is forgetting everything that comes
automatically when you ride a solo" - I can't sum
it up any better than a visitors comments after his first ride on
a sidecar around the Alpilles - the little alps, our own personal
test track and training ground.
If you've never tried it, the concept of accelerating
hard into a bend to give the sidecar extra stability seems completely
wrong, but after a few hours of 'ground school' and some hands-on
experience on our fleet of brand-new Ural sidecars you will see
just how straight-forward it all is.
Sidecars have always had a bad press from people
who have never tried one but after our two-day acclimatisation course
you will be confident enough to tell them otherwise.
Based in St Remy de Provence in the sunny south
of France we can offer the perfect environment for your first experience
of sidecar riding. As Ural and Royal Enfield dealers we have
a fleet of new machines and the backup to keep them in perfect condition.
The Ural is a great bike to start on, its very solid and stable,
having been designed from the ground up as a sidecar ensemble it
is completely predictable at all speeds.
The course will start with a classroom session each morning or afternoon
where over coffee and croissants we can go through the background
to getting the thing to go round corners safely and go straight smoothly.
As the whole point of sidecars is to ride, each session comprises
an accompanied ride-out with the routes chosen especially to highlight
different aspects of sidecarism.
The two-day course doesn't end in a test - there are no special
qualifications needed to ride a sidecar in Europe beyond a normal
motorcycle license, rather the emphasis is on riding well and safely,
our aim being to wave you off at the end of the course completely
capable of riding off into the sunset - indeed we offer courses
timed to allow you to join our european tours after your two class
days.
Courses cost £350 UK sterling for
the two days including bike hire, notes and tuition with a maximum
class of three riders. All courses are based in St Remy.
